◆QuotingAI vs Housecall Pro
Their Bill Doesn't Rise When You Hire. It Jumps.
Basic is a one-user plan. Essentials includes five. MAX includes eight. So the third estimator takes you from $59 to $149 a month, and the sixth takes you from $149 to $299 — all in US dollars.

The Short Answer
Housecall Pro is a full field-service platform and a good one. If you dispatch technicians, run routes, invoice, and want memberships and an answering service in the same login, it does far more than we do and you should probably buy it. Three things to look at before you sign. The seat ceilings — one estimator on Basic, five on Essentials, eight on MAX, with a per-user price published only on MAX. The trade package, if you're HVAC, plumbing or electrical: it's an overlay on those same tiers, priced on their industry pages rather than their pricing page, and a team on package MAX is $649/mo against the $299 you were shown. And the Canadian edges: prices in USD with no Canadian version of the page, one tax rate per invoice, automated sales tax built around US states, no bank payments, and no card readers — which quietly puts their cheapest 2.59% card rate out of reach here.
Housecall Pro is a field-service management platform (housecallpro.com). QuotingAI does one job end to end: describe a job, get a priced itemized quote, send a branded proposal, collect an e-signature and a deposit.
Published Pricing
What Housecall Pro Actually Costs
Every figure below is quoted from a page we read on July 25, 2026. Where Housecall Pro does not publish a number, this table says so instead of guessing.
Read this first: Every figure below is in US dollars. Housecall Pro's pricing page states plainly: “All prices are in USD and are exclusive of sales tax.” There is no Canadian version of that page — we requested it with Canadian language and country headers and got back a byte-for-byte identical page, and it's edge-cached on a key that doesn't include country, so it can't vary by where you are. An Alberta business budgets in USD and pays whatever its card charges to convert. The larger caveat is that this table may not be the price you're shown. On July 15, 2026 Housecall Pro launched HVAC, plumbing and electrical packages, and their own help centre describes them as an overlay on these same tiers: “You get everything in a standard Housecall Pro plan, plus a set of exclusive HVAC-focused tools… The higher your plan tier (Basic, Essentials, or MAX), the more of these tools you get.” Those package prices are published on their industry pages rather than their pricing page, and they are much higher — $79 on Basic, $229 on Essentials for one user or $299 for a team of five, $399 on MAX or $649 for a team of eight — with extra seats at $100/mo on Essentials and $75/mo on MAX against the $35/mo below. All three trades carry identical figures. Two things about the packages are still unpublished: whether an annual rate exists at all (the billing-cycle prices on those pages are unfilled “$XX/mo” placeholders) and what currency they're in — the USD statement appears only on the main pricing page.
| Housecall Pro plan | Price | Billing basis | Users included | Each extra user |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $59/mo[1]USD, billed annually. $79/mo billed monthly — the plan card frames the annual rate as “Saving $20/mo” | Per month, billed annually (USD) | 1 user[1] | Not publicly listed — the add-user footnote appears only on MAX, and the billing article lists additional logins as MAX-only[5] |
| Essentials | $149/mo[1]USD, billed annually. $189/mo billed monthly. Marked “RECOMMENDED” on their pricing page | Per month, billed annually (USD) | Includes 5[1] | Not publicly listed — no add-user price is published on this tier[5] |
| MAX | $299/mo[1]USD, billed annually. $329/mo billed monthly | Per month, billed annually (USD) | Includes 8[1] | $35/mo[1]Per additional user. This is the only per-seat price Housecall Pro publishes anywhere |
Seat model
Bundled seats with a ceiling, not per seat — one user on Basic, five on Essentials, eight on MAX.
Free trial
14 days, no card[1]Their FAQ specifies the trial runs on the MAX plan with full feature access
Setup / onboarding fee
Referenced but never priced — their billing article names “setup fees” among non-refundable charges, and no amount appears on the pricing page[5]

The Arithmetic
What Happens When You Hire
Housecall Pro priced at three crew sizes, using only figures Housecall Pro publishes — against QuotingAI Shop at $244/mo flat.
| Estimators | Housecall Pro — Basic, Essentials, Then MAX | How that's worked out | QuotingAI Shop |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $59/moon Basic | Basic, billed annually — US$59/mo. Basic is a one-user plan, so this is where a solo operator sits. | $244/mo |
| 3 | $149/moon Essentials | Basic stops at one user and no add-user price is published below MAX, so three estimators means Essentials — US$149/mo. Two more people, +$90 a month, a 152.5% step. | $244/mo |
| 6 | $299/moon MAX | Essentials includes five. The sixth estimator moves you to MAX — US$299/mo. One more person, +$150 a month, a 100.7% step. MAX then includes eight, and each user past that is US$35/mo. | $244/mo |
Where this comparison is and isn't fair: Each row is priced on the tier that headcount actually forces you onto — Basic, then Essentials, then MAX — which is the whole point: their cost moves in steps, not a smooth line. Their figures are US dollars and ours are Canadian, so this is a comparison of two published bills, not a converted one. We've also shown QuotingAI Shop in every row, which overstates what you'd actually pay at one or three estimators — Solo is $55 and Crew is $132. And the money buys different things: at $299 Housecall Pro is dispatching technicians, optimizing routes, running payroll and invoicing. We quote. Both of those facts are true at once.
Feature By Feature
QuotingAI vs Housecall Pro, Row By Row
Where we couldn't confirm a Housecall Procapability from their own documentation, the row says “Not publicly listed” rather than scoring it against them.
| Capability | QuotingAI | Housecall Pro |
|---|---|---|
| AI drafts the quote from a plain-language job descriptionHousecall Pro has plenty of AI — CSR AI answers the phone, plus Help AI, Analyst AI, Coach AI, Accountant AI, a “refine it for me” writing assist on the Summary of Work, and AI-driven pricing benchmarks. None of it is described as writing the estimate. We looked and found no vendor page documenting one, which is not the same as proving none exists. | Yes | Not publicly listed[4] |
| Itemized line-item quoting | Yes | Yes[9] |
| Prebuilt regional cost databaseNeither tool hands you one. Housecall Pro has a price book and, since July 2026, AI-driven pricing benchmarks, but no vendor page describes a prebuilt regional cost database. QuotingAI prices from the pricebook you build, at what you actually pay your suppliers. | No | Not publicly listed[18] |
| Trade-specific package for HVAC, plumbing or electricalReal, and worth knowing what it costs. Their help centre calls it an overlay, not a separate product — “You get everything in a standard Housecall Pro plan, plus a set of exclusive HVAC-focused tools… The higher your plan tier (Basic, Essentials, or MAX), the more of these tools you get” — and the package-only tools are themselves tier-gated inside it, from an HVAC KPI dashboard on Basic up to AI pricing insights on MAX. The price for it sits on their industry pages, not their pricing page: $79 Basic, $229 Essentials solo or $299 for a team of five, $399 MAX solo or $649 for a team of eight, identical across all three trades. A team on package MAX is $649 against $299 for standard MAX — 117% more — and extra seats run $100/mo on Essentials and $75/mo on MAX against $35/mo standard, two to nearly three times the rate. Housecall Pro doesn't show those two price cards on the same page. We have no trade packages at all; QuotingAI is one product. | No | Yes[19] |
| Branded proposal documentCustomizable templates carrying your logo and branding. The richer Sales Proposal Tool is listed under MAX only, tagged “$40/mo value” — that is a marketing value claim, not a price you can buy it for. | Yes | Yes[2] |
| Client e-signature on the quoteTheir signed record captures the signature, name, IP address, timestamp, the approved estimate and any terms. Which plans include e-signature is not documented anywhere on their site — we're not going to guess at the tier. | Yes | Yes[7] |
| Deposit collected at signatureA flat amount or a percentage up to 100%, and with “Require deposit payments” on, the customer must pay before they can approve. Tier gating is undocumented here too. | Yes | Yes[9] |
| Estimate converts straight into a scheduled jobAn approved estimate copies directly into a job, and job creation can be automated. We stop at the signed quote and the deposit — there's no job record on our side to copy into. | No | Yes[2] |
| Full invoicingInvoices and payments ship from Basic up. QuotingAI stops at the signed deposit on purpose — invoicing and books stay in your accounting software. | No | Yes[1] |
| Scheduling and dispatchOne of the real reasons to buy Housecall Pro. Scheduling and dispatch are in Basic; routes and employee GPS start at Essentials; route optimization is MAX-only. We don't do any of it and aren't trying to. | No | Yes[1] |
| Quoting from a phone at the job siteTheir mobile app was rebuilt from the ground up in May 2026. QuotingAI is a PWA — it installs to a phone home screen and keeps working with no signal, which matters in a mechanical room or a rural basement. | Yes | Yes[17] |
| GST / PST / HST handling by provinceHousecall Pro tax rates are a name and a percentage you type in yourself, with no GST, PST or HST concept, and their own help article states the limit in one line: “only one tax rate can be applied to an invoice at a time.” In a province that charges GST and PST separately, that is a problem you have to work around every time. | Yes | No[11] |
| Automated tax calculated from the job's locationTheir Automated Sales Tax is real and works — for the United States. The eligibility rules are written entirely around US states (Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon), it requires you to be onboarded to their payments, and no province, GST, HST or PST is mentioned. | Yes | Paid add-on[10] |
| Bank payments for a Canadian businessTheir ACH FAQ is unambiguous: “Not at this time. ACH is currently only available for businesses based in the U.S.” We don't do bank payments either — deposits come in by card through Stripe — but on their side it's the cheap payment rail you'd want and can't have. | No | No[13] |
| Card reader for tap-and-chip payments in CanadaAsked directly — “I live in Canada, will I be able to use the card reader?” — their help centre answers “Card readers are not currently available in Canada.” That costs real money, because their published 2.59% rate is specifically for cards “swiped, tapped, or chipped with a card reader or Tap to Pay on Mobile.” Without a reader a Canadian shop is left on the 2.99% online-entered rate and the 3.49% keyed or card-on-file rate. Whether Tap to Pay on Mobile is separately available in Canada isn't published either way. We don't sell readers either — QuotingAI takes the deposit online by card through Stripe — but we also don't advertise a rate you can't reach from here. | No | No[23] |
| Customer financing offered on the quote in CanadaTheir estimating page pitches financing as the way to close bigger jobs, and the rate card lists consumer financing from 3.9%. It's a US offer: “Wisetack is currently not available via Housecall Pro in Canada.” Business Insurance is out here too — “It is not available for Pros in Canada.” Neither is something we offer at all. | No | No[24] |
| Interac or Interac e-Transfer as a payment methodTheir published rate card covers cards, ACH, PayPal, Venmo, Klarna and cheque deposits. Searching their help centre for “Interac” and “e-transfer” returns no results at all — not a denial, but nothing published either. Neither of us takes Interac; for a Canadian trades audience that's a gap on both sides, and worth naming rather than leaving out. | No | Not publicly listed[6] |
| Prices and bills in Canadian dollarsTheir pricing page states “All prices are in USD and are exclusive of sales tax”, with no currency selector, no CAD figure and no hreflang. We settled the geo question rather than guessing at it: /ca/pricing/ redirects to /pricing/, but so does /zzz/pricing/, so that redirect means nothing; a request carrying Canadian language and country headers came back byte-identical; and the page is edge-cached on a key that contains no country, which means it can't serve a Canadian variant even in principle. A Canadian visitor sees the US card. The one CAD figure they publish anywhere is a Klarna transaction ceiling for your customers, not your subscription. | Yes | No[1] |
Straight Talk
Who Should Actually Pick Which
Pick Housecall Pro If…
You Dispatch Technicians, Not Just Quotes
This is the honest reason most home-service companies buy Housecall Pro, and it's a good one. Scheduling and dispatch from the entry tier, employee GPS and routes from Essentials, route optimization and route-based scheduling at MAX. If your day is a board of jobs and a map of trucks, a quoting tool does not compete with that and we won't pretend otherwise.
You're Six To Fifteen Field Staff And Want One Login
MAX bundles eight users at $299/mo on annual billing — $37.38 per user by our own division — and that buys dispatch, GPS, routing, commissions, payroll, invoicing, QuickBooks sync and open API access in one system. Replacing that with four separate tools usually costs more and definitely costs more attention. The entry risk is low too: 14 days free with no credit card, no long-term contract, and a published 30-day money-back guarantee on the baseline subscription fee.
You Run HVAC, Plumbing Or Electrical In The United States
In July 2026 they shipped industry packages for mechanical service professionals — preconfigured workflows and templates, mechanical KPI dashboards, membership plans, AI-driven pricing benchmarks and technician efficiency reporting. That is real vertical depth built by people who know the trade, and it's paired with US-native tooling: automated sales tax by job location and 1% ACH payments, both of which stop at the border. Know what the depth costs before you fall for it. Their industry pages price the package at $79 on Basic, $229 or $299 on Essentials, and $399 or $649 on MAX depending on whether you're solo or a team — the team MAX figure is 117% above the $299 you'd read on their pricing page — and extra seats on the package run $75 to $100 a month against $35 on standard MAX. It's a good product at a price they publish two clicks away from the one you were quoted.
You Want Recurring Revenue And The Phone Answered
Recurring Service Plans ship in MAX and membership plans landed on jobs and estimates in July 2026, so maintenance agreements are a first-class thing rather than a spreadsheet. CSR AI answers calls you'd otherwise miss. If the gap in your business is booked revenue between callouts, or leads dying in voicemail, that's outside what a quoting tool can ever fix.
Pick QuotingAI If…
Hiring A Third Estimator Shouldn't Cost You Ninety Dollars A Month
Housecall Pro's tiers have seat ceilings, so your bill steps rather than climbs: US$59 to US$149 at the third user, US$149 to US$299 at the sixth. On their HVAC, plumbing and electrical packages the seats cost more again — US$100 a month on Essentials, US$75 on MAX, against US$35 on standard MAX. QuotingAI is flat — Crew is $132 for up to five people and Shop is $244 for up to fifteen, and adding a user inside your plan costs nothing. You find out what a hire costs you when you hire, not after.
You Quote In Canadian Dollars And Charge Two Taxes
Their prices are published in US dollars with no CAD option — we tested that properly rather than assuming it, and there is no Canadian view of their pricing page to find. Their automated sales tax is built around US states, and their own help article limits you to one tax rate per invoice. The gaps keep going: no ACH, no card readers in Canada and therefore no route to their cheapest 2.59% card rate, no Wisetack financing, no Business Insurance, and nothing published about Interac at all. QuotingAI bills you in Canadian dollars and puts GST — or your province's rate — on the line where it belongs, without you working around a limit on every quote.
You'd Rather Describe The Job Than Fill In A Template
Housecall Pro's estimating is mature: templates, good-better-best options, e-signature, deposits. What you do is fill it in. QuotingAI listens to “forty-foot run of two-inch, six fixtures, cut into a finished basement” and writes the itemized quote for you to correct. Housecall Pro has a great deal of AI, but none of it is documented as drafting the estimate.
You Only Want The Quoting Part
You already have a scheduler you like and an accountant who wants everything in QuickBooks. Buying a platform to get a better quote means migrating the parts that already work. QuotingAI is deliberately one job — spoken description in, signed quote and deposit out — and it sits beside whatever you already run instead of replacing it.
Questions
Switching From Housecall Pro
How much does Housecall Pro cost in Canada?+
Exactly the same as everywhere else, in US dollars. Their published tiers are Basic at $59/mo, Essentials at $149/mo and MAX at $299/mo on annual billing, or $79, $189 and $329 billed monthly, and their pricing page states “All prices are in USD and are exclusive of sales tax.” There is no Canadian version of that page: /ca/pricing/ redirects to the standard one, but so does any made-up prefix, a request with Canadian country and language headers returns a byte-identical page, and the page is edge-cached on a key with no country in it, so it cannot serve a Canadian variant. An Alberta business budgets in USD and absorbs whatever its card charges to convert. If you run HVAC, plumbing or electrical, the relevant number is different again — their trade package is priced on their industry pages at $79 on Basic, $229 or $299 on Essentials and $399 or $649 on MAX, with no annual rate published and no currency stated on those pages at all.
Why does the price jump so much when I hire someone?+
Because their tiers include a fixed block of users rather than charging per seat. Basic is a one-user plan, Essentials includes five, MAX includes eight, and $35 per extra user is published only on MAX. So going from one estimator to three isn't two seats — it's a move from Basic to Essentials, US$59 to US$149, a 152.5% increase. Going from five to six moves you Essentials to MAX, US$149 to US$299, a 100.7% increase for one person. That arithmetic is theirs, not ours; we've just added it up.
Does Housecall Pro have AI?+
Yes — quite a lot of it. CSR AI answers inbound calls, and they've shipped Help AI, Analyst AI, Coach AI, Accountant AI, CSR AI Chat, AI-driven pricing benchmarks and a “refine it for me” writing assist that tidies up the Summary of Work on a job or estimate. The narrow thing we could not find, on any of their pages, is an AI that drafts the estimate itself from a description of the job. That's the one we do. If they ship one, this answer changes.
Can Housecall Pro handle GST and PST?+
Partly, and manually. Canada is genuinely supported — Canadian business accounts get paid out, corporations are verified against provincial and federal business registries, Voice gives you Canadian area codes, and Instapay works, though its per-transaction ceiling is $10,000 in Canada against $50,000 in the US. But tax rates are a name and a percentage you enter yourself with no GST, PST or HST concept, their help article states that only one tax rate can be applied to an invoice at a time, their Automated Sales Tax is written entirely around US states, and ACH bank payments are, in their words, “only available for businesses based in the U.S.” The list of things switched off north of the border is longer than it looks: card readers (“Card readers are not currently available in Canada”), Wisetack consumer financing, and Business Insurance. The card reader one has a price tag on it — their 2.59% card rate requires a reader or Tap to Pay, so in practice a Canadian shop pays 2.99% or 3.49%. Their help centre returns nothing at all for Interac. It works here. It just wasn't built for here.
How current are the prices on this page?+
Every Housecall Pro figure here was read from their own pages on July 25, 2026, and each one links to the page it came from. The six core tier prices were then re-read the same day against their raw pricing page and all six held. What moves fastest is the packaging: the HVAC, plumbing and electrical packages launched on July 15, 2026 and were priced on their industry pages within ten days, and there is still no published annual rate for them — the billing-cycle slots on those pages are empty placeholders, so an annual figure could appear at any time. Their own billing article also warns that its pricing screenshots “may not reflect current pricing.” Confirm on housecallpro.com/pricing, and on your trade's industry page, before you buy. If you spot something stale or wrong, email hello@quotingai.ca and we'll correct it.
